Baripada: In a distressing incident, a 22-year-old woman has reportedly been raped by five individuals in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, according to police reports.
The alleged assault occurred on Friday evening when two acquaintances of the victim offered her a ride in a car, claiming they wanted to discuss a promising job opportunity.
The woman was driven to a location within the Udala police jurisdiction, approximately 80 kilometers from her residence in Bangiriposi, as detailed in her complaint.
Later, three additional men joined them in the vehicle, taking her to a remote area along the route connecting Udala and Balasore town, where the assault allegedly took place, as stated by SDPO (Udala) Hrushikesh Nayak during a press briefing.
Following the incident, she was abandoned on the roadside, as per the police complaint.
"We have initiated a case based on her account, and an investigation is currently in progress. So far, two suspects have been detained, and efforts are underway to locate the remaining three," Nayak confirmed.
